Code of Ethics for Grassroots Dog Biz School

At Grassroots Dog Biz School, we uphold a stringent standard of conduct that is in harmony with our mission, values, and ethical principles. We hold ourselves and our students to the highest ethical standards.

You agree to adhere to the Grassroots Code of Conduct by enrolling as a student. Violations of this code will result in immediate removal from all Grassroots Dog Biz School platforms.

We expect students to:

  1. Behave respectfully, honestly, and professionally within our programs, the wider dog-owning community, and among their peers.

  2. Maintain the open space we created for both balanced and positive trainers to further their education by engaging in meaningful conversations;

  3. Recognize and adhere to professional boundaries as a dog trainer and refer clients to other professionals when necessary;

  4. Participate fully in the program with their best selves at all times; and

  5. Respect the other students, coaches, volunteers, and anyone associated with Grassroots.

    We have a zero-tolerance policy for:

  6. Racist, homophobic, transphobic, and sexist behavior, including acts, comments, images, cartoons, memes, videos, and social media posts wherever such activity occurs;

  7. Disrespect towards differing viewpoints and training methodologies; refrain from attacking fellow trainers unless it concerns abuse;

  8. Bullying, whether inside or outside of the Grassroots program;

  9. Dog owner shaming and derogatory behavior; always respect their consent;

  10. Training environments that endanger the well-being of dogs or humans;

  11. Any form of harassment within the Grassroots Dog Biz School Programs, dog-owning community, or training industry;

  12. Exploiting clients for personal, financial, or professional gain; maintain professional relationships;

  13. Soliciting information from Grassroots students, employees, or contractors; and

  14. Using Grassroots’ Intellectual Property or students' Intellectual Property without permission.

    Above all, respect both humans and dogs. Don't be a dick.
